"Cost? An awareness of cost should also be an awareness of value. Simply yielding to a perception of saving money, in place of preserving value, might dictate selecting Super8 film or a videotape format for original photography. One could really save a lot of money by canceling the entire production."

    Forde Motion Picture Labs

Another forum is reporting that this lab will be offering super-8 processing in the next few weeks for the first time ever. They might want to rework that quote.

<font size="2" face="verdana, sans-serif">I think you mis-read that other forum: it says that Forde is about to start processing 200T. Forde Labs have been doing Super8 for years, and have a great reputation in Seattle. They do superior Ektachrome work and are intimately acquainted with that stock.

Yeah, I did get it wrong.

But the quote I did take directly from their website. Super-8 does seem to get bashed by users of practically any other format. Forde Labs is probably caught in a situation where they can't see using Super-8 over 16mm in any situation, (they would be wrong, by the way), but to clump Super-8 with video is just plain irresponsible.

    Forde Motion Picture Labs

<font size="2" face="verdana, sans-serif">The key word here is "entire production". What Forde Motion Picture Labs has not acknowledged are the plausible scenarios where super-8 makes more sense than mini-dv, and that for every filmmaker that actually can afford an "entire production", there are a hundred more who can't afford an "entire production", but want to shoot in film anyway.

Forde Motion Pictures Labs has definitely "Bozo'd" their website and hopefully will see the error of their ways and reword their statement.
